The Black OX refinish option can be applied to Carbon, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Brass and Copper putters. Black OX is a conversion coating formed by a chemical reaction produced when the putter is immersed in the alkaline aqueous salt solution operated at 285 degrees. The reaction between the iron of the ferrous alloy and the hot black oxide bath produces a magnetite (Fe3 O4) on the surface of the putter. To protect and seal the beautiful Black OX finish the putter is then dipped in a “dry to the touch” oil bath. Carbon putters will still need to be maintained by oiling the putter after each round of golf. Oiling this putter on a regular basis will help protect it from corrosion. Many other companies offer black oxide but routinely use the cold black oxide process which has very poor adhesion and wears away quickly. All dings, dents and scratches are removed and this finish can be performed in a Matte, Satin, Brushed or Polished sheen.
